Esteban Ocon Praises “Awesome to Work with” Race Engineer!

Esteban Ocon and Laura Mueller have already synergised perfectly at Haas F1!

Esteban Ocon is racing for a new outfit this season. The Frenchman was shown the exit from Alpine F1 after a disastrous season of 2024. He frequently clashes with teammate Pierre Gasly and was unable to prove his importance to the team. Even though Ocon finished a podium for the Alpines, he was not retained.

He found himself racing for Haas Formula 1 in 2025 with rookie driver Oliver Bearman. Even though Haas were more or less a backmarker team, Ocon still had a chance to compete in Formula 1. He is clearly the number driver for Haas in 2025. Ocon has helped them turn things around and get their performance under control. His new team is much better and stable in performance this year compared to Alpine.

Haas has moved up in the grid. They are the sixth best team on the grid in 2025. Haas F1 is regularly competing for points finishes in 2025. Esteban Ocon has found himself a better team for sure in 2025. As such, Ocon had a lot to say about one of the key members of his new team.

Esteban Ocon Shares His Experience with Laura Mueller at Haas

Ayao Komatsu and Esteban Ocon were not the only upgrades that Haas made to his F1 lineup. They also promoted their performance engineer Laura Mueller. She became the first female race engineer in Formula 1. Haas team principal praised her determined character as he considered her a great match for Esteban Ocon. The duo has been fairly successful in 2025 as Esteban Ocon is helping Haas secure a good point haul.

Speaking about his new race engineer, Esteban Ocon revealed in an interview with Formula 1-

“It’s been great to work with Laura. She’s really a great engineer. She’s been having a lot of experience in a lot of different categories. She’s done DTM, I’ve done DTM, so we have that point in common. But she did a lot of different categories, and her trajectory is very impressive. She’s awesome to work with. The amount of hours she puts in is very, very impressive. She doesn’t count hours.”

Ocon was mesmerised by her work ethic as he navigated through the 2025 season. He recounted his experience at the Japanese Grand Prix. Ocon was not as competitive as he wanted to be and he kept talking to his race engineer about it.

Ocon recalls that she did not eat or drink for hours just because she wanted to make sure that his concerns were adressed with utmost priority. It was nearly evening, by the time she asked Esteban Ocon for a break to eat.
