Eric Nilson is one of the top ice hockey players from Sweden and is also one of the top prospects at the upcoming 2025 NHL draft in Los Angeles. Born on May 11, 2007, in Calgary, Alberta, Nilson is a Swedish-Canadian hockey player.

The 18-year-old plays the forward position, predominantly as a center. The right-handed shooter has been playing for Djurgårdens IF in the Swedish Hockey League. Nilso was also a member of the Swedish national team, which won the bronze medal at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

Eric Nilson Father

Marcus Nilson, the father of Eric Nilson, was also a hockey player who played the sport at the junior as well as the professional levels. Starting his career with Djurgårdens IF’s junior league team, Nilson senior worked his way to their professional team in Sweden’s professional hockey league.

Marcus Nilson, who played forward as a left winger, was drafted in the NHL by the Florida Panthers, who selected him with the 20th overall pick in the 1996 NHL draft. He played his first game in the NHL in 1998.

Overall, Nilson played approximately 10 seasons in the NHL, 6 with the Panthers and 4 with the Calgary Flames. He finished his NHL career with 168 points, including 67 goals from 521 games.
