Eintracht Frankfurt and Tottenham face off in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday at Deutsche Bank Park. The tie is finely poised following a 1-1 draw in North London last week. Despite being second best for much of the first leg, Eintracht managed to leave London with a draw and now return home, where they have won three matches in a row in front of their home fans.

In contrast, Tottenham arrive in Germany in unconvincing form. A 4-2 defeat to Wolves over the weekend means Ange Postecoglou’s side have now won just once in their last five games in all competitions. Their away form has been particularly troubling, with six defeats in their last seven road trips, including a 1-0 loss to AZ Alkmaar in their previous European away match. Tottenham currently sit 15th in Premier League and they have put much of their focus on the Europa League as their best route of securing a European spot.

Head coach Dino Toppmoller provided a positive update ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash with Tottenham, confirming the return of two key players. “It’s great to have Knauff and Trapp back,” he said. “Trapp won’t be involved just yet tomorrow, but Knauff will be back in the squad.” In Trapp’s absence, Santos impressed with a standout performance and he will start here.

With Hugo Larsson and Mario Gotze rested at the weekend, both are expected to return to the starting XI. Meanwhile, Junior Ebimbe and Krisztian Lisztes will all undergo late fitness tests ahead of kickoff. Knauff will be available for selection, giving Eintracht another attacking option off the bench.

Tottenham skipper Son Heung-Min has remained in London due to a foot issue. Wilson Odobert could start on the left flank in Son’s absence. Meanwhile, centre-back Radu Dragusin is ruled out of the second leg, but Kevin Danso has travelled with the squad and could feature in defence.

In a big boost, Dejan Kulusevski made his return from a foot injury with a substitute appearance against Wolves on Sunday and is expected to be back in the starting XI for Thursday night’s clash.
