Real Madrid was shown the exit doors from the Champions League in the quarterfinals as Arsenal cruised past them. Winning both legs, Mikel Arteta’s side won on an aggregate of 5-2 as they clinched a spot in the semifinals.

Carlo Ancelotti, on the other hand, suffered a heavy margin defeat, which is rare by Los Blancos’ standards. The Italian manager has been elevated in recent times by the media in speculations of an exit from Madrid.

When asked if he would change anything for this tie, Ancelotti expressed confidence in his approach. Appreciating the Gunners team, he gave Arteta’s side full credit for their triumph. Questioned by the media about his approach, Ancelotti said:

“Would I change anything about this tie if I could go back? No, I wouldn’t change ANYTHING. We tried, but we were not able to change the tie. It was decided since the first leg. Arsenal were better, they deserved to go through.”

Ancelotti has been rumoured to be replaced in several reports this season. Being linked to moves like the Brazil National Team, Ancelotti has expressed having his focus on the current season. Addressing his journey with Madrid and what’s ahead, Ancelotti said:

“We still have La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Club World Cup? The day my time ends at Real Madrid, I will only do one thing: thank the club. Whether I finish the contract or not, it’s the same for me.”

Real Madrid will face Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey final next week as they will try to forget what was a disappointing night at the Spanish Capital. Being the defending champions, the Great Whites will see a surprising exit early into the competition given their record.

Ancelotti will have more problems and pressure building with La Liga and Copa Del Rey at stakes. After the exit to Arsenal, the 65-year-old will be keen to regroup his squad for the final quarter of the season.
