Dricus Du Plessis Claps Back at Khamzat Chimaev Amid UFC 317 Injury Drama

Dricus Du Plessis is the current middleweight champion of the UFC, and has been looking forward for a title fight against Khamzat Chimaev, who is arguably the most dangerous fighter Du Plessis could go up against. However, the South African recently announced that he is currently injured, which means that the potential fight between him and Chimaev is not off, which has a lot of fans, including the Borz, annoyed and disappointed.

Chimaev is a flawless 14-0-0 in his UFC career so far, and he made his UFC debut in July of 2020. He has finished 12 of his 14 fights so far (6 via TKO/KOs and 6 via submission). Chimaev has been desperately waiting for a title shot since 2020, however, he hasn’t gotten his chance at the middleweight belt yet. His aspirations to put himself in the UFC history as a undisputed champion, has been halted, yet again, and that did not sit right with him. So Chimaev immediately decided to fire back on Du Plessis, as he wrote “This guy biggest bulls*it,” on X.

Du Plessis Fired Back at Chimaev

Du Plessis is not somebody who takes trash talk quietly, as he immediately fired back at Chimaev’s tweet with a post that showed their last 6 fights, where three of Khamzat’s fights were cancelled which included fights with Nate Diaz, Paulo Costa, and Robert Whitaker. The middleweight champion captioned the post which said, “Let’s take a look at the last +-2.5 years and tell me who’s bullsh*t.”

Who Could Du Plessis Be Replaced With at UFC 317?

While the Chimaev vs. Du Plessis is put to a stop for now, there are other potential fighters that can’t wait to get their hands on Chimaev. Two fighters have already showed interest in taking on the ‘Borz’ and they are Paulo Costa and Caio Borralho. Costa stated that he is still open to taking on Chimaev, even though he’s already signed up for another fight in International Fight Week. Meanwhile Borralho called out Chimaev, and the ‘Borz’ responded with “If we will fight a hundred times, you’ll never win if somebody knows you know that bro.”

Borralho quickly responded with, “If you say so Khamzat Chimaev. Sign the contract and we’ll see.”
