“Don’t think it was solely because of my physical” – Mark Williams breaks silence on rescinded Lakers trade

Charlotte Hornets center Mark Williams opened up on the rescinded Lakers trade. He questioned the Los Angeles management during the podcast on the Charlotte Hornets community. Mark Williams was recently part of the Hornets’ 100-97 win over the Lakers in a highly-anticipated clash after the trade saga.

The last two weeks have been quite frustrating for Mark Williams, who was on the verge of joining the Los Angeles Lakers before the trade deadline. The trade was rescinded after the Hornets star allegedly failed a physical.

“You go from getting traded, thinking you’re going to LA, and then they choose to fail me on my physical,” Mark Williams mentioned how emotions were flowing on the day when he received news of the rescinded trade.

Charlotte center also clarified that this trade did not fail because of his physical. It was something else. “I don’t know if, for them, it was about what they gave up or what went into that reasoning, but I don’t think it was solely because of my physical,’ Mark Williams added.

Earlier, he shared that he was in a hotel in Los Angeles when he got to know about the trade getting nixed and was shocked by the news. “Shocked,” Williams told FOX Sports. “I didn’t think there was any possibility of me failing my physical. Every time I’ve been out, it’s been documented.”

The 23-year-old would have been played against the Hornets on Wednesday night. However, he didn’t join the Lakers but gave them a blow by winning a road game against LeBron James and Co. on Wednesday. He scored 10 points and nine rebounds in Charlotte’s second-half comeback.
