Eric Divakaran

Dmitry Bivol is the undisputed light heavyweight champ and is one of the best boxers in the world. The Russian boxer’s professional record stands at 24-1 with 12 knockouts. His only loss came in razor-close majority decision to Artur Beterbiev in October of 2024, which is successfully avenged in February 2025 to claim the undisputed light heavyweight title.

Bivol’s standout victories also include a win over Canelo Alvarez who he beat via unanimous decision and ended Alvarez’s undefeated 16-win streak at light heavyweight. He has also beaten some of the more tougher opponents like Gilberto Ramirez and Lyndon Arthur. He is the number one ranked boxer according to the Ring magazine and at age 34, he’s still in his prime, who has the ring IQ, finesse, speed, and quickness making him a formidable champion.

He retired with a flawless record of 29-0-0 and is now often seen supporting his fellow Dagestani UFC fighter, Islam Makhachev.

Recently, Bivol was asked if he could defeat Khabib Nurmagomedov in a street fight and here is what he had to say.

Bivol says Khabib will have the upper hand if the two go at it in a street fight

When Bivol was asked if he could take on Khabib Nurmagomedov in a street fight, he kept it short, simple, and honest. He said “To be honest, MMA is closer to a street fight. No point of hiding it.”

Boxing and MMA, even though both the sports are considered as combat sports, are not the same and it is not even a question. Boxing is limited to using just your hands but in MMA; kicks, punches, submissions, ground and pound, takedowns, are all allowed.

There are no rules to a typical street fight and Khabib should definitely have an advantage if he is to takes on Bivol. Hypothetically if the two fight, while the sheer devastating power will clearly be in Bivol’s favor but if he fails to connect his punch, Khabib will have a lot more weapons to shut him down. We’ll never know who will a street fight between the two but if they did clash, we’ll have to side with Khabib. What do you think?

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
