A first meeting for Shnaider and Uchijima

Wimbledon 2025 kicks off today with plenty of exciting matches throughout the day. On the women’s side, we have the number 12 seed, Diana Shnaider, taking on Moyuka Uchijima in their round one encounter. The winner of this match will go up against either Diane Parry or Petra Martic.

Diana Shnaider vs Moyuka Uchijima Preview

As preparation for the Championships, Diana Shnaider entered three tournaments on grass in which she was ousted quite early.

After a couple of wins at the HSBC Championships, she lost in the quarters to Madison Keys. Shnaider then participated in Berlin and BAD Homburg in Germany, where she lost in the second and first rounds respectively.

The Russian hasn’t been serving too well this year, having hit only 55 aces against 96 double faults. She has won only 58% of her service points and under 70% of her service games. But, she has won nearly 36% of her return games.

Moyuka Uchijima, on the other hand, played only one tune-up event on grass prior to Wimbledon. She participated in the Eastbourne Open but lost in straight sets in her first match. The Japanese player has also struggled this year, especially on serve, with just 52 aces. In contrast, she has 117 double faults and has won just 60.7% of her service games.

Diana Shnaider vs Moyuka Uchijima Wimbledon Prediction

Snaider, who is still an upcoming player on tour, has shown her ability to win on all surfaces. She has titles on hard, clay, and grass courts and has a game that suits all courts.

Uchijima, on the other hand, has played decently on hard and clay, but grass is where she has struggled the most. Ideally, Shnaider should have enough firepower to ease past Uchijima and record the first win in their head-to-head.
