Desire Doue Injury Update: What Happened to PSG Star as He Was Stretchered Off the Field?

Moumita Dutta

Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-1 draw at Lorient was overshadowed by a worrying moment for Desire Doue. The forward was stretchered off with what appeared to be a serious thigh injury. The 20-year-old midfielder’s exit came just after the hour mark.

It abruptly halted PSG’s push for a late winner and cast a shadow over their preparations for next week’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. Doue has been in fine form since returning from a previous injury which he sustained on international duty with France.

Desire Doue went down clutching his right leg before medical staff rushed to assist him. The sight of him being stretchered off left everyone deeply concerned. Moments later, reporters spotted him leaving the stadium on crutches. He seemed unable to put any weight on his right leg which is a worrying sign for Luis Enrique’s side.

Luis Enrique Reacts on Desire Doue Injury

Speaking after the match, PSG head coach Luis Enrique did not hide his concern. Enrique said, “It’s always bad news when there are injuries. It’s a strange injury; I don’t know exactly his condition. I hope it’s not a serious injury.” He later added:

“I don’t know what’s wrong with Desire, but it was very difficult to watch.” Enrique also admitted his disappointment with the team’s overall display in Brittany. He said, “We didn’t deserve the victory, we played a poor match. It’s a shame because we need points, and we want to earn points.”

What the Injury Means for PSG

Even though PSG dominated possession with over 78 percent of the ball, PSG failed to convert their control into goals. They were undone by Lorient’s compact defending and the heroics of goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo. PSG now await medical tests to determine the full extent of Doue’s injury.

In the meantime, after such a result, Doue’s potential absence could not come at a worse time. The young Frenchman was instrumental in PSG’s recent 7-2 rout of Bayer Leverkusen. He scored twice in that Champions League encounter. His injury now raises serious doubts about his availability for the high-stakes trip to Munich on November 4.

Enrique has already navigated a season riddled with fitness setbacks. Now losing one of his most dynamic midfielders again presents another challenge. PSG remain top of Ligue 1, but the draw at Lorient marks their third stalemate in four league matches. It’s a reminder that consistency remains elusive even for champions.
