The British heavyweight scene has always had its fair share of colorful characters. From Anthony Joshua’s presence to Tyson Fury’s theatrical antics, these fighters have kept fans entertained for decades. Among them, Derek Chisora stands out as boxing‘s ultimate warrior.

He is the man who once threw a table at Dillian Whyte and slapped Vitali Klitschko. Now at 41, when most fighters are content watching boxing from their couch, ‘Del Boy’ keeps proving that age is just a number in the fight game.

The Fight That Had Everything

Last night in Manchester, Derek Chisora added another chapter to his remarkable story by defeating Otto Wallin in spectacular fashion. The same Wallin who nearly derailed Tyson Fury’s career in 2019 with a nasty cut. Chisora has now strung together three straight wins, including victories over Gerald Washington and former Olympian Joe Joyce. Not bad for a guy who many thought should have hung up his gloves after the Fury loss in 2022.

Fighting in front of a packed house at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena, Chisora turned back time with a performance that had everyone’s jaws on the floor. He didn’t just win, he dropped Wallin twice and fought through a nasty cut that would have stopped lesser men. The judges scored it convincingly in his favor, making this his 36th professional victory. The win also puts him in line for a shot at Daniel Dubois’ IBF heavyweight title, though Chisora seems to have bigger plans in mind.

The Final Dance Partner

In true Derek Chisora fashion, he turned the post-fight celebration into a show of its own. This was supposed to be his last fight, but ‘Del Boy’ had other plans. With help from his celebrity friends, rappers Skepta, Lethal Bizzle, and Tinie Tempah – he presented three potential opponents for his 50th and final fight. These were Anthony Joshua, Daniel Dubois, and Oleksandr Usyk.

The crowd roared loudest for AJ, while poor Dubois’ picture got more boos than cheers. It’s fitting that Chisora wants the fans to choose his last opponent,after all, he’s been entertaining them for over 18 years!

Derek Chisora’s Legacy Lives On

What makes this victory even more special is how Derek Chisora continues to evolve. The wild brawler can still go to war when needed. His promoter Frank Warren has promised to make whatever fight Chisora wants happen, and given ‘Del Boy’s’ history of taking on all comers – from Vitali Klitschko to David Haye – his final bout is sure to be something special. Whether he faces Joshua in a British blockbuster or challenges for Dubois’ title remains to be seen. One thing is certain however. Boxing’s most entertaining warrior will go out on his own terms, probably with a few more memorable press conferences along the way.
