Daniel Ricciardo has been out of Formula 1 racing for one full season as of 2025. The Honey Badger was unceremoniously dropped by Visa CashApp RB in favor of Red Bull racing junior driver Liam Lawson. Since the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, Formula 1 community has not heard from Daniel Ricciardo about his potential Formula 1 or motorsports plans.

There were talks about Daniel Ricciardo potentially returning to Formula 1 after a short break. However, the Aussie has given no signs of trying to restart his career. With teams like Audi and Cadillac joining the grid, fans were hoping that Ricciardo may get another chance. Although, his own lack of motivation and the diverse driver market is contributing to his sabbatical. The Honey Badger has also started his own fashion brand.

Daniel Ricciardo is Trying to Become Selfless After Years of Driving in Motorsports

Daniel Ricciardo was a beast on track during his prime years. The eight-time grand prix winner has shown that he can go toe to toe with the best of the drivers. Unfortunately, he left the sport long before he could make a mark in Formula 1.

He even turned down offer from Cadillac about returning to the grid according to team principal, Graeme Lowdon. Ricciardo is now trying to steer clear of the characteristics associated with the high-speed sport.

“This year has been a bit of self-exploration. I lived this crazy high-speed life for so long and this year I’ve sat into a little bit of stillness.”
“I’ve had a lot of time, I’ve done some hiking. I was in Alaska a few weeks ago and didn’t get mauled by a grizzly, which was a bonus. I’ve been trying to figure out who I am other than this race car driver. I’ve come to appreciate the little things more and the meaning of the importance of family and friends.”
“I’ve always been driven and that sometimes leads you to being selfish, so I’m trying to learn to be a bit more selfless and become a better listener.”

Unlike Sebastian Vettel, he has chosen to stay away from the day to day activities in Formula 1. He also publicly announced he doesn’t intend to drive in the sport again. The story of Honey Badger, has come to a full stop, whether fans like it or not.
