Grimes was in action for the Mavericks against the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he finished with 11 points, three rebounds and three assists.
It was not long ago when NBA reporter Shams Charania dropped a bombshell on fans announcing that the Dallas Mavericks decided to let go of star Luka Doncic. Doncic was sent to the LA Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis and Max Christie.
While everyone was still trying to process the deal, Charania revealed that the Mavericks are yet again set for another trade, which involves their guard Quentin Grimes moving to the 76ers in exchange for forward Caleb Martin. The 76ers will also acquire a 2025 second-round pick (more favorable of Denver and Philadelphia).
Grimes was in action for the Mavericks during their 144-101 blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he finished with 11 points, three rebounds and three assists. The 24-year-old is averaging at 10.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this season.
Originally selected with the 25th pick in the 2021 draft by the LA Clippers, Grimes was then traded to the Knicks with a 2024 second-round draft. In 2024, he was moved to the Detroit Pistons, before being traded to the Dallas Mavericks later in the same year. The 24-year-old is set to be a restricted free agent after this season.
He has played a total of 215 career games in over three seasons and has a lifetime average of 8.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists with 23.3 minutes per game.
Caleb, on the other hand, signed a four-year deal with the Sixers last summer, but had to miss 18 games in the first year with the team due to injuries. Martin’s feature in the lineup was restricted due to shoulder pain, and since Jan. 10, he was sidelined due to a right hip sprain.
The 29-year-old was officially listed as questionable for Tuesday’s match-up between his new and the former side, where 76ers recorded a close 118-116 win over the rivals.
He maintained an average 9.1 points with 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 31 games he played for the 76ers.
