According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Cristiano Ronaldo has officially become football’s first-ever billionaire, with his net worth estimated at $1.4 billion. As a result, CR7 has surpassed long-time rival Lionel Messi. This marks the first time Ronaldo’s fortune has been included in the Bloomberg index, cementing his place as the sport’s highest-earning athlete.

How Did Cristiano Ronaldo Become Football’s First Billionaire?

Ronaldo’s wealth has been built through a combination of massive salaries, sponsorships and personal business ventures. Over his career, he has reportedly earned more than $550 million in salaries between 2002 and 2023. His record-breaking move to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in 2023 brought him a staggering $200 million annual tax-free salary and bonuses, alongside a $30 million signing bonus. Earlier this year, he signed a contract extension reportedly worth over $400 million, significantly boosting his overall earnings.
