The rivalry between Conor McGregor and the Nurmagomedov family just won’t cool down, even after all these years. What started as a heated buildup to his 2018 UFC lightweight fight with ‘The Eagle’ has turned into a long-running saga that keeps finding new life. This time, it’s another Irish fighter’s controversial loss that has ‘The Notorious’ firing up his Twitter and taking aim at the entire Nurmagomedov clan.

McGregor couldn’t help but jump into the fray following Paul Hughes’ majority decision loss to Usman Nurmagomedov at the PFL Champions Series in Dubai. The former two-division UFC champion, who’s been sitting on the sidelines since mid-2021, clearly had some thoughts to share – and subtlety wasn’t on his mind.

Conor McGregor’s Take On Paul Hughes’ Loss

Conor McGregor went full blast on social media, claiming Hughes won the fight against Usman Nurmagomedov in a dominant fashion. ‘The Notorious’ didn’t stop there, though. He turned what could have been a simple disagreement about judging into a full-blown roast of the Nurmagomedov fighting style.

Tremendous fight and performance! Easy win for Hughes, he DOMINATED THAT FIGHT. And Umar [he meant Usman] exactly what it says on the tin, a Nurmagamedov. Runner, sprinter, bolter, scarper, scurrying “fighter”. The Nurmagomedovs are not fighters. They are the most non fighting fighters out of Dagestan and all time. Run away around the cage and shoot ass b**ches.Dagestan is better than the Nurmagomedovs and that is a FACT!”

Conor McGregor never leaves an opportunity to take aim at his former opponent’s family or anything related to him. And this particular incident was nothing new.

7 years after the loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, he has kept that animosity alive. However, critiquing one of MMA’s most successful fighting families may not be the most convincing argument.

McGregor has been dealing with his own challenges outside the cage. Between legal troubles and injury recoveries, people might think he would be too busy for Twitter beefs. But apparently, when it comes to the Nurmagomedov clan, Conor McGregor always has time to share his thoughts!
