The Connecticut Sun will host the Phoenix Mercury for one their last games of the 2025 WNBA regular season on Saturday, September 6, amid their ongoing complicated ownership drama. After having a disappointing campaign and missing the playoffs for the first time in eight years, the Sun would want to end the season on a victorious note. They are on a three-game losing skid, slumping in five of their last ten fixtures.

In their most recent matchup, the Sun went down to the Chicago Sky in a blowout fashion. The game saw a poor display of offensive prowess by the team considering no player from the team was able to reach the 20-point mark. Tina Charles led the charts with 19 points, while Saniya Rivers dropped 16 off the bench.

The Phoenix Mercury present a tough challenge to Connecticut considering they head into the game with six straight wins. Having won eight of its last ten games, Phoenix aims to add more victories to the tally considering the playoffs seeds. In the last fixture, the Mercury handed a 75-69 defeat to the Washington Mystics, owing to four double-digit performances. With the playoffs approaching, the Mercury wouldn’t want to snap the winning streak and head into the postseason riding high on confidence.

Alyssa Thomas, who has put herself in the MVP discussions, is averaging 15.9 points, and leads across three categories, including rebounds, assists and steals.
