World No. 2 Coco Gauff will take on 32nd-seed Dayana Yastremska in the third round of the 2025 Cincinnati Open. The American ace dispatched Wang Xinyu 6-3, 6-2 to start the campaign with a win, while Yastremska defeated Viktoriya Tomova in three-set thriller to reach the next round.
Coco Gauff moved on from a shocking exit in Montreal against Victoria Mboko, the eventual winner of the event. The US No. 1 enter the fixture with a straight-set victory. Gauff’s consistency has been a concern as she failed to got a deep run after the maiden Roland Garros title in June. She won the Cincinnati Masters in 2023 and went 16-6 on hard court this year. The American ace has a potential to make an impact in hard-court season but she needs to retain consistency.

Yastremska required three sets to counter Viktoriya Tomova in second round. She has secured multiple wins in each of the last 6 events and this consistency makes her superior player. In 2025, the Ukrainian ace made into the quarterfinals five times with a 31-17 record. Yastremska went 11-8 on hard-court this year and beat players like Navarro and Jabeur. The 25-year-old had a semifinal run in Bad Hamburg where she was the 2nd seed player.
A full-stretch, no-doubt forehand laser 😮💨

Coco Gauff thrives in high-bounce with defense and counterpunching. She has enough shots to tackle Yastremska on hard court but mental toughness is crucial. She couldn’t handle the Ukrainian ace in the Wimbledon last week. Yastremska relies on her timing and does magic through long rallies.
Prediction: Coco Gauff to win in three sets.
With Gauff strongly favored at 2/7 and Yastremska at 3/1, the odds reflect the thrilling encounter between two. Backing Gauff is the safe bet, while Yastremska offers value only if you’re betting on an upset.
