No. 9 seed, Andrey Rublev and Alexei Popyrin will meet for the first time since 2024 Canadian Open final. The duo will lock horns in the round of 32 fixture at the Cincinnati Masters. Rublev dispatched Learner Tien in straight sets, while Popyrin overcame Martin Landaluce to reach the third round.

Andrey Rublev had a roller-coaster ride this season with a 27-18 record. The 27-year-old reached the quarterfinal in his most recent event at Toronto. The four-time US Open quarterfinalist has only one singles title which came in Qatar after losing in the opening round of the Australian Open. In previous Masters event in Canada, Rublev overcame players Fokina and Sonego. In previous game at Cincinnati, he showed dominant display against Tien, who beat him in Citi DC Open last month. He had a great history at Cincinnati, finishing as runner-up in 2021, quarterfinallist in 2019 and 2024.

Alexei Popyrin is a giant-killer in big events and he showed it when he outclassed Rubelv to win the National Bank Open last year. The Australian ace is taking charge of his country after the elimination of Alex de Minaur. Popyrin dropped a 12-4 record against top-20 players at Masters events, including two wins against Rublev. The Aussie reached the quarterfinals in Toronto where he surprised Rune and Medvedev before losing to Zverev in three sets. This year, he had a quarterfinal run in Monte Carlo as well and secured fourth-round finish in Roland Garros.
