Benjamin Bonzi Knocks Out Stefanos Tsitsipas from Cincinnati Open to Reach Maiden 4th Round at Masters 1000 Event

Things are not going great for Stefanos Tsitsipas as the Greek tennis star crashed out from the 2025 Cincinnati Masters after losing against Benjamin Bonzi 7-6. 3-6, 4-6. With this win, Bonzi made into his first-ever fourth round at the 1000 Masters Event. Tsitsipas will now get time to fix his issues ahead of the season’s final Grand Slam tournament, US Open.

Reuniting with Father Didn’t Work as Stefanos Tsitsipas Crashes Out in Third Round in Cincinnati

Stefanos Tsitsipas won the first set in tie-break and it looked like a straight-set victory for him but Bonzi had different plan. The Frenchman took the second set 6-3 to force the decider. The third set was more challenging to Tsitsipas and it was a well poised set for both players but Bonzi had the final laugh.

Tsitsipas reunited with his father Apostolos Tsitsipas, as his coach and the Toronto Masters was their first tournament together. The 12-time ATP Tour titlist faced a first-round exit against Christopher O’Connell. Before arriving at Cincinnati, Tsitsipas was confident to make a deep run in the Masters event and he made a soldi start by defeating Fabian Marozsan 7-6(3), 6-2 on Saturday in the second round.

The 2019 Nitto ATP Finals champion had fallen to his lowest ranking since 2018. Tsitsipas has posted a mediocre 20-15 record this year on the ATP tour, including 10-7 on hard court. It was his first loss against Bonzi out of four meetings.

During the match, Tsitsipas scored 101 points vs Tien’s 110. Tsitsipas was pretty aggressive to blast 34 winners. Regarding the service games, Tsitsipas struck 14 aces and he was decent in conceding three double faults.

Meanwhile, Bonzi’s dream season continues as he overcame Lorenzo Musetti in previous record. During the Wimbledon, the Frenchman knocked out Danill Medvedev in first round. He will now take on Felix Auger Aliassime in the round of 16 next. Tsitsipas will stay in Cincinnati as he will kick off his double’s campaign with his partner, Luciano Darderi.
