Yuki Tsunoda will get all the support he needs to better his results this season
Christian Horner is under serious pressure in the 2025 season. Everything seems to be going wrong for Red Bull Racing in 2025. The team is completely off the pace and they are unable to catch up to leaders. To make matters worse, they are still lagging behind with their second driver problems. Max Verstappen is the only driver hogging points for Red Bull Racing.
The second Red Bull seat is hot topic for many years now. The Austrian outfit are seemingly unable to find a replacement or any suitable driver to partner Verstappen. Yuki Tsunoda is presently driving alongside Verstappen after replacing Liam Lawson. However, the Japanese driver is unable to display any calibre in driving at a level comparable to his teammate. In his seven outings with the team, Tsunoda has only secured points thrice.
When Yuki Tsunoda was in Racing Bulls, he was eyed as the undoubted successor to Sergio Perez. Although, as soon as he took the mantle Tsunoda started failing spectacularly. He is yet to secure a better finish than P9 in his Red Bull. Tsunoda also faced a huge shunt in Imola.
Now, Red Bull Racing are famous for their aggressive driver policies. They do not hesitate before switching drivers mid-season. Liam Lawson and his demotion after two races in 2025 is the prime example of the same.
Red Bull turmoil deepens as Tsunoda struggles to justify promotion:

When the sword of demotion due to lack of performance is hanging over Yuki, Horner has come to his rescue.
“Driving these cars is all about confidence, and that’s what he needs to find. I think he’ll get there. He’s fast. He’s just got to piece it all together. We keep seeing flashes of performance. We just need to see him put it all together. I think he’s capable of that.”
Christian Horner did avoid the question regarding Isack Hadjar’s potential promotion. The Briton’s general attitude towards his current driver is very supportive. Helmut Marko has surprisingly not rebuked Tsunoda in front of the media but things are still in motion. Yuki Tsunoda has a lot of gap to cover up. It seems that the 2025 season is going to be his last chance to redeem his Formula 1 career.
His team is backing him up as much as he needs in 2025. But the incidents Yuki Tsunoda has been involved in are bound to take a toll on his confidence.
I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university's Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
