The game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers was full of records. LeBron James scored his career-first 4th straight triple-double and Chris Paul also added his name in the NBA record books. The Spurs point guard accomplished a historical feat on Friday night at San Antonio.
During the first quarter of the Spurs and the Lakers game, Paul completed 12,000 career assists courtesy of a lob for Victor Wembanyama. The 39-year-old point guard is the third player in NBA history with 12,000 career assists. He joined the elite club of John Stockton (15806) and Jason Kidd (12091).
The list of assisted teammates is big for Chris Paul. Blake Griffin and David Lee are ahead of everyone with 1,157 and 1,120 buckets respectively. Lakers head coach JJ Redick (633) comes third on the list. DeAndre Jordan made 575 points through Paul’s passes and Peja Stojakovic hit 429 times.

Meanwhile, Chris Paul couldn’t save the Spurs from losing the home tie 120-115 against the Lakers. The veteran point guard racked up 11 points with 11 assists and 2 rebounds. The Spurs conceded 8 points advantage at the half-break and failed to recover the deficit.
Anthony Davies scored 40 points and LeBron James hit a triple-double to secure 4th straight win for the Lakers. Wembanyama and Castle paced the Spurs but it wasn’t enough. It ended their 2-game winning streak and they fell to 6-7 in the West. Spurs will now take on Mavericks on Saturday to snap out 2-game losing streak on the road.
