Gulshan Sharma

De'Aaron Fox hit 60 points, seven assists, three rebounds, three steals and one block over 44 minutes in the loss.

The Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox set a new record while playing an NBA Cup encounter against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night. Fox dropped a record 60 points but still, failed to prevent the loss against the Wolves. Sacramento tried to pull off the comeback in the fourth quarter but still, the Timberwolves won it 130-126.

Franchise record and career-high points for De’Aaron Fox

Kings point guard scored the career-high points and was the lone warrior for the franchise. After scoring a 3-pointer in the extra period, the 26-year-old set a new franchise record. De’Aaron Fox became the first player for the Sacramento Kings to score 60 points in a game. Fox broke the 64-year-old record which was previously set by Jack Twyman (59) during the 1959-60 regular season.

A heartbreaking loss despite scoring season-high

De’Aaron Fox was shooting 22-for-35 from the floor and 6-for-10 from three. He hit seven assists, three rebounds, three steals and one block over 44 minutes in the loss. The score was tied on 115 points and the game went into overtime where the Wolves had the final laugh with 15-11. It’s heartbreaking that De’Aaron Fox’s 60-point franchise record game was a loss.

The Kings star hit 33 of his 60 points in the second half. It was the crucial phase where Sacramento needed a comeback as they were 8 points behind at half break. The deficit was increased to 16 points before the dominant 33-17 comeback from the Kings in the fourth quarter. It wasn’t easy to go toe-to-toe with in-form Anthony Edwards and drop 60 points but Fox was magical on Friday night. “I’ve been a fan of his a long time… that’s what you love about the game, the best two players going at each other,” said Edward hailed Fox after the game.

The 26-year-old point-guard is now averaging 27.3 points on 50.6 percent shooting, 5.3 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals over 37.5 minutes per game. Fox will be in action on Saturday during the NBA clash against the Jazz. The Kings have now fell to 7-6 through 13 games and it was their third game that reached into the overtime.
