Chelsea vs Everton Premier League Fixture – Blues in Pressure on Way To Ensure Champions League Qualification

Moumita Dutta

Key Factors and Injuries, Predicted Lineups & Preview for the Crucial Premier League Clash on April 26.

Chelsea will welcome Everton at Stamford Bridge in Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff. And the Blues will be aiming to solidify their bid for a spot in next term’s Champions League with a win. Manager Enzo Maresca, who will serve a touchline ban, is under increasing pressure.

However, they should be arriving with confidence following a late comeback win over Fulham in their last match. Tyrique George and Pedro Neto rescued three points for Chelsea. Thus, extending their unbeaten streak to four matches in the league. The home side is chasing multiple fronts. Hence, this clash could prove crucial in shaping their season’s final outcome.

Blues in Pressure for Champions League Qualification

Chelsea are still in contention for a top-five Premier League finish. They are only two points off that mark, credit to Manchester City winning against Aston Villa in midweek. However, Maresca’s side now face one of the toughest schedules in the rest of their games. This includes games against Liverpool, Newcastle, and Manchester United.

Though their upcoming Conference League semi-final is a significant distraction. Even so, their Premier League ambitions take precedence. Historically, Everton have struggled at Stamford Bridge. Added to that, Chelsea are now unbeaten in 29 home games against them in the league. Hence, the odds are firmly stacked in the Blues’ favour.

Chelsea Injury News

Right-back Malo Gusto sustained a muscular injury in the Blues’ last match at Fulham. That injury may keep him away for the remainder of the campaign. He joins long-term absentee Wesley Fofana on the treatment table. The Blues will play a Europa Conference League semi-final on Thursday.

Even so, Maresca is expected to field a strong lineup against Everton. Youngster Tyrique George could earn a start after his game-winning display last week. Cole Palmer, who scored four times in this fixture last season, continues to seek a return to form after a prolonged scoring drought.

Chelsea probable starting lineup:

Sanchez; Cucurella, Colwill, Chalobah, James; Caicedo, Enzo; Neto, Palmer, George; Jackson

Everton Injury News

Everton’s defence has taken a hit after James Tarkowski suffered a hamstring injury in their match against Manchester City. His replacement Michael Keane’s performance was subpar in that match. That could open the door for Jake O’Brien to start centrally.

On the other hand, Coleman, Young, and Patterson will have to compete for a start at the right-back position. Armando Broja, on loan from Chelsea, is ineligible to feature along with Dominic Calvert-Lewin who remains unavailable. As a result, Beto is expected to lead the line for the Everton side.

Everton probable starting lineup:

Pickford; Mykolenko, Branthwaite, O’Brien, Patterson; Ndiaye, Doucoure, Garner, Gueye, Harrison; Beto
