Mikel Arteta Congratulates Liverpool on Near Premier League Title After Arsenal’s Draw with Crystal Palace

Arsenal drew 2-2 against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday in the Premier League. In what was their 13th match ending in a draw this season, Mikel Arteta and his side now trail by 12 points to league leaders Liverpool.

The League looked lost since the start of April, Arsenal surely slipped towards the final quarter of the season. Dropping points consistently, it always looked like a lost cause. Arteta who still has some silverware in his sights with the Champions League will now try to shift their focus on their clash against PSG.

Reflecting on where the Premier League lost for the Gunners, Arteta shared a brief insight. Mentioning the margins being too small given their surprising amount of draw matches, the Spanish manager in his post-match interview said:

“We haven’t been able to see the games off for many reasons,” Arteta said. “The margins have been too small. Sometimes that’s when I credit the opposition, we indeed played five times with ten men.

“There are a lot of factors, but it’s something that we’ve done much better in the past, especially when we’ve been ahead in games, and today, without really much happening, especially in the second half, we have to be able to see the game off.

Addressing that Arsenal has only lost three games in the League this season, Arteta continued:

“You have to win a certain amount of games, and at some points, we have only lost three games, two of them with ten men, so we have to win many more.”

Arsenal will host PSG in the Champions League semifinals next. After they triumph over Real Madrid, the Gunners will thrive on confidence as they face another giant.

Bringing back the conversations from pre-season, Arteta explained how UCL has been the squad’s ambition all season. Talking about registering history in Europe, Arteta also congratulated Liverpool who are almost there with the second Premier League title as he said:

‘In pre-season, I asked the lads: ‘PL or UCL, what’s the dream?’ They all wanted the UCL. We are focused on the trophy our boys want so we can complete our history in Europe, congratulations LFC, but we’ll be there next season.’

Arsenal will possibly end second on the Premier League table for the third consecutive year. After losing the league by two points to Manchester City in the 2023/24 season, it will be safe to say Arteta and his men have seen worse days.

Arteta who has managed to build a strong system at Emirates has had very less to show in the trophy cabinet. However, with the Champions League clash ahead, the North-London club will be determined to make the most out of their remaining season.
