In a move that could have significant impact in the Premier League, Aston Villa have reportedly opened internal discussions over a potential summer transfer for Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne. The news comes as the Midlands club looks to continue its dramatic rise under Unai Emery.

While no formal offer has been made yet, sources close to the club suggest that Villa are seriously exploring the feasibility of bringing the Belgian playmaker to Villa Park. De Bruyne, who has been one of City’s most influential players over the past decade, officially announced that he will leave Manchester City at the end of the season. The Belgian midfielder, who will turn 34 in June, has been a cornerstone of City’s success since his arrival from Wolfsburg in 2015.

Over the past 10 years, De Bruyne has amassed an incredible 16 trophies with the Manchester giants, including six Premier League titles and the club’s long-awaited UEFA Champions League triumph in 2023. He has scored 107 goals in 417 appearances for City.

The midfielder’s future remains uncertain, and while he is yet to make a definitive decision, reports suggest that his reluctance to uproot his family will play a key role in his next move. The Belgian midfielder is said to be prioritising a balance between football and home life, a factor that has reportedly alerted Aston Villa. As a result, Aston Villa have conducted internal discussions regarding a possible move to sign De Bruyne as a free agent.

Kevin De Bruyne Also on Radar of MLS Clubs

Kevin De Bruyne has also attracted attention from Major League Soccer clubs namely Inter Miami, Chicago Fire, NYCFC, and D.C. United. All four clubs have reportedly made enquiries about De Bruyne. Notably, Inter Miami currently hold his MLS discovery rights, giving them a potential advantage should De Bruyne decide to move to the United States.

Meanwhile, Serie A outfit Como are also said to be exploring the option of signing the Belgian international.
