Champions League 2024-25 Awards: Player of the Match, Top Goalscorer, and More

PSG Have Grabbed the Title While Their Star Has Pocketed the Player of the Match Award.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) clinched their first-ever UEFA Champions League title with a commanding 5-0 win against Inter Milan at Munich’s Allianz Arena on May 31, 2025.  The match win marked the largest margin in a Champions League final. With that, they also completed a historic treble which was also their first. 

The final showcased pure dominance from the French side. Goals from Achraf Hakimi, a brace by teenage sensation Desire Doue, and strikes from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Senny Mayulu sealed the deal for Les Parisiens. The win solidified PSG’s ascent in European football under coach Luis Enrique.

Player of the Match: Desire Doue

At just 19 years old, Desire Doue delivered a performance for the ages. For that, he earned the Player of the Match award. He scored twice and provided an assist. Thus, becoming the youngest player to both score and assist in a Champions League final. He set multiple records with his contributions in the game.

This includes being the first player involved in three or more goals in a Champions League final. Doue’s impact was immediate as he assisted the opening goal for Hakimi. Then he netted his own in the 20th and 64th minutes. His performance not only secured PSG’s win but also announced his emergence as a future star.

Top Goalscorer Award: Raphinha and Serhou Guirassy

The Golden Boot for the 2024-25 Champions League season has been shared between Barcelona’s Raphinha and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy. Both players, key for their attacks, each netted 13 goals even though their teams were eliminated early in the tournament.

Raphinha was instrumental in Barcelona’s campaign as he scored eight goals in the league phase. This includes a hat-trick against Bayern Munich. He added five more in the knockout stages.

Guirassy matched this tally with consistent performances for Dortmund. He scored nine goals in the league phase and four in the knockouts/ This includes a crucial hat-trick in the quarterfinals against Barcelona.  

Their prolific scoring was pivotal in their respective teams’ respective runs in the Champions League. The stats justifying the awards show how this Champions League season concluded with remarkable individual performances. It also came with historic team achievements.
