Rather than finding Prates a new opponent for the original date, the UFC decided to capitalize on another unfortunate situation and create an exciting new main event for a different card altogether. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, as the UFC event scheduled for April 26 in Kansas City had just lost its headliner between Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr. due to Hill’s injury.
