Carlos Alcaraz vs. Laslo Djere Head to Head Record, Preview and Prediction for ATP Barcelona Open 2025 Round of 16

Sankalp Harikrishnan

Alcaraz is a two-time champion in Barcelona.

Carlos Alcaraz takes on World No. 80 Laslo Djere of Serbia in a bid to continue his winning streak at the 2025 ATP Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell on Thursday. Alcaraz is currently on a six match unbeaten run on clay, starting with the Monte Carlo Masters. Meanwhile, Djere is no mug on clay himself – the former Top-30 star came through qualifying and defeated Arthur Rinderknech in Round-1.

With a convincing victory over 21-year-old Ethan Quinn in his opening match, Carlos Alcaraz reinstated his happiness to be back in Barcelona. However, he spoke about “saving energy” due to the intensity of the clay court swing – something that he will focus on against Djere. The four-time Grand Slam champion is 21-4 this year, with two titles along the way. He is also a two-time winner of the Barcelona Open – and is looking to regain the trophy after taking it home in 2022 and 2023.

Merely two months ago, Laslo Djere reached the semifinal in Argentina before capturing the trophy in Chile – beating the likes of clay court mainstays such as Francisco Cerundolo and Alejandro Tabilo at these events. Unfortunately, his European springs weren’t as bright and blooming as South America. The 29-year-old lost the first round in Marrakech, and was dumped out in Monte Carlo qualifiers.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Laslo Djere Head to Head Record

Carlos Alcaraz has a superior 1-0 head to head record against Laslo Djere. Their one and only previous meeting was in 2023 at Buenos Aires.

On Thursday, Alcaraz and Djere shall lock horns on the outdoor clay courts of the Real Club de Tenis to potentially face Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinal stage. The solitary face-off between the Spaniard and Serbian was also on outdoor clay, with the World No. 2 prevailing in three sets. Owing to the fact that he is arguably in better form at the moment, Alcaraz will look to get the job done in straight sets in this return fixture.
