Alcaraz takes on Fritz in the first men's semifinal at Wimbledon
World number 2, Carlos Alcaraz, will be contesting yet another semifinal at the All England Club today when he takes on Taylor Fritz for a place in the Wimbledon 2025 final. Alcaraz, who is already the two-time defending Champion here, has been in sublime touch this year as he looks to repeat the French Open-Wimbledon Channel Slam like he did last year.
While the Spaniard has been entertaining fans on the court with his mesmerising play, he has also engaged in off-court activities, such as a recent interview in which he spoke about an incident that made him nervous once while playing in front of a celebrity.
Professional tennis players who play on the biggest stages all around the world are no strangers to the media, glamour, and celebrity-like lifestyle. Top players who are also heavily connected with the leading brands as brand ambassadors also team up with celebrities from other walks of life.
So, it is not often that they will encounter a situation where seeing big-name movie stars or other famous people will make them nervous while playing tennis. However, being star-struck even for these top professional athletes is nothing new.
Just watch this.

The normally cool and collected Carlos Alcaraz shared one such moment back in the 2023 Wimbledon Final when he saw the globally famous Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt in the stands watching his match.
The Spaniard mentioned in an interview that usually, he doesn’t get the jitters in front of such high-stature people, but that time, Pitt, being such a huge star, it was a moment of excitement for the 5-time Grand Slam Champion.
“I remember it was the 2023 Final, I didn’t realize that, for example, Brad Pitt, super famous! But I didn’t realize at the beginning of the match. But then I got a toilet break and I saw him and I was like, Ok, Ok, you know, he’s there! So I got a little bit nervous. But in general, I just accept it, and I just try to enjoy watching them. But to be honest, I don’t get nervous.”

Alcaraz, who is now bidding to win his third consecutive title at Wimbledon, must turn his attention to the big-serving American in the semis. The first of the men’s semifinals is scheduled to take place on Centre Court starting at 8:30 AM ET, which is 1:30 PM local time in the UK.

nfl I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
