Aryna Sabalenka loses her cool after semifinal defeat in Wimbledon.
The world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka’s heartbreak continues in the Grand Slam. Following two successive defeats in the Australian Open and Roland Garros final, the Belarusian ace faced a 6-4 4-6 6-4 defeat against the 13th seed, Amanda Anisimova in the 2025 Wimbledon semifinals. Her dream to find the ultimate glory on the grass court shattered at Centre Court on Friday.
Sabalenka is known for her witty remarks during the competitions and she again made a question over Anisimova’ behaviour in the semifinal game. The Belarusian ace lost her cool after the defeat in the Wimbledon semifinals. She failed to reach the fourth consecutive Grand Slam final. Even after the end of the match, she was angry over the American rival.
During the final set, Anisimova was leading at 5-4 and the American ace needed a point to wrap up the match. Anisimova knew that she is reaching the finals and the 23-year-old started celebrating which hurt the world No. 1.

“I was just trying to chase the ball. She was already celebrating it. I mean, that’s a bit too early. Then she kind of pissed me off saying oh, that’s what she does all the time’,” Sabalenka said.
The 27-year-old from Belarus added one more instance behind her frustration. After losing the opening set 6-4, the pressure was on Sabalenka and she held the nerves to force the decided. The world No. 1 shared how Anisimova’s antics inspired her to take the second set.
“I was grateful that she actually said that because it actually helped me to keep fighting. I’m like, ‘OK, now I’m going to show you the tennis’,” she said. “I came back because I got really angry in that moment, probably in the third set I should have remembered that.”
Sabalenka discussed about what she’s learned since the French Open final. She said, “I took a bit more time before doing my media.. Just so I can be Aryna, not that crazy person that was at that media day at Roland Garros.”
Aryna Sabalenka opened her Wimbledon press conference after her loss to Amanda Anisimova like this:

“You’re not gonna see a Roland Garros press conference. Anyone who was waiting for that, you can leave right now.” 😂😂😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/cvyI0HI9KO
“You’ve spoken throughout this tournament about things you’ve learned from the French Open experience. What from that has helped you right now to be so philosophical about this defeat?”
Aryna Sabalenka also showed a great character during the match and she brought water over to a fan who was receiving medical treatment from the heat in the opening set. The world No. 1 lost three matches in the Grand Slams this year and all defeats came against the American players. The Belarusian also made headlines over her statement after the defeat in the Roland Garros defeat.
