Bucks vs. Thunder: Who won the 2024 NBA Cup MVP?

Milwaukee Bucks continued their dream run and defeated Oklahoma City Thunder 97-81 in the Championship game of the NBA Cup at Las Vegas. Giannis Antetokounmpo added one more trophy to his career and the Bucks became the second team after the Lakers to win the title without losing a single game.

The first half was close as the Bucks had only a one-point lead into half-time. The second half was disappointing for Thunder as they were outscored by Bucks 26-14 in the third quarter. 14 points in the third were their fewest in a quarter this season. Bucks stretched their lead to 20 points in the fourth quarter and Thunder had no chance of any comeback.

Three-point shooting was a big part of separating both teams in the final. Milwaukee Bucks fired from beyond the arc with a success rate of 38.9%, hitting 7 out of 18 attempts. Meanwhile, the Thunder struggled and made only one out of 17 attempts, with a 5.9% efficiency from long-range. Milwaukee Bucks outscored Thunder by 36 points from three-point range.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was named the 2024 NBA Cup MVP. The Greek Freak was in excellent form in the championship round, scoring a triple-double with 26 points, 19 rebounds, 10 assists, three blocks and two steals. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar dominated the game on both ends of the floor.

Antetokounmpo also won the MVP award in NBA Finals 2021 and currently has two NBA MVP awards. After winning the NBA Cup, Antetokounmpo joined LeBron James in an elite club to win an NBA Cup title, two league MVPs, and NBA Finals MVP awards.

Apart from him, Damian Lillard scored 23 points and four assists for the Bucks. Thunder was fueled by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who added 21 points. Isaiah Hartenstein contributed 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Jalen Williams added 11 points.
