2024 NBA Cup Prize Money: How much money Bucks get for winning this year’s championship?

Milwaukee Bucks are the 2024 NBA Cup champions! Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. thrashed Oklahoma Thunder 97-81 to claim their first NBA Cup title. Bucks remained unbeaten on their way to the title, winning 4-0 in group stage and then edging out Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks to set up a Championship clash against Thunder.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was again the game changer for the Bucks, finishing with 26 points, 19 rebounds and 10 assists.

The ‘Greek Freak’ averaged 31.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.0 steals, and 2.8 blocks per game in the 2024 NBA Cup.

2024 NBA Cup Prize Money

The prize pool of the NBA Cup 2024 has been slightly increased compared to the inaugural edition and adding financial motivation for the players.

Here’s the prize structure of NBA Cup 2024 for each player:

NBA Cup Winners (Milwaukee Bucks): $514,971 per player
Runners-ups (Oklahoma Thunder): $205,988 per player
Teams who lost in the Semifinals (Hawks & Rockets): $102,944 per player
Teams who lost in the Quarterfinal round: $51,497 per player

Last season, Lakers’ D’Angelo Russell used his earnings to pay off vacations, and many players did the same. However, Thunder’s Hartenstein wants to use the earnings for the donation. “For me, I’m probably going to donate some of it,” Hartenstein added. “I’ll donate to certain causes, so that’s exciting for me to have another opportunity to get some more money but also help the community out.”

If we compare it to the inaugural edition, the prize pool was well-operated in round numbers. Players on teams who lost the quarterfinals got $50,000 each. Losing sides of the semifinal round got $100,000 for each player.

The NBA Cup winning prize money was $500,000 for each player and the runner-ups got $200,000 for each player. As per the agreement between the NBA and its players union, prize payouts rise by a “growth factor” tied to any increase in the basketball-related income (BRI) that the league generates.
