The NBA Cup final was originally priced at $79 but saw a steep drop following Saturday's results.
The Emirates NBA Cup, which started with a lot of buzz last season, is facing a reality check this year. Last year, the NBA Cup was seen as a fresh, exciting addition to the calendar. This season? The excitement hasn’t quite lived up to the hype, and the ticket prices are the proof.
With Warriors, Mavericks getting knocked out in quarterfinals, get-in prices for this week’s semi-finals saw a big drop going for as low as $29.
The NBA Cup final was originally priced at $79, but following Saturday’s results, which saw the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder secure the final two spots, ticket prices have dropped further to $37, when the cheapest last year was $160.

So, what’s causing this sudden drop? The biggest reason seems to be the lack of star power. The NBA Cup final will be missing the usual big names – LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant. Even the Mavericks, who were expected to make some noise, didn’t make it past the quarterfinals.
While stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are set to compete, none of them have the same global reach as LeBron James or Stephen Curry.
The recent drop in ticket prices and viewership comes as big concern for the NBA which has been working to pull up numbers and expand its global reach.
