Bucks vs Mavericks injury report: Will Anthony Davis play tonight?

The Dallas Mavericks are back on the court on Wednesday, March 5. They will lock horns with the Milwaukee Bucks at the Fiserv Forum in the re-match of the previous meeting on Saturday, March 1. Mavs are coming on the back of a 122-98 loss against the Kings.

Despite being on a two-match losing streak, it is exactly not the losses that are keeping them worried. Seeded tenth in the West, the Mavericks are currently on a 32-30 record. However, the biggest reason for their distress is the injury of several key players including Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis.

They signed the former Los Angeles Lakers veteran Anthony Davis in a blockbuster deal last month. The deal sent their superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers while Davis headed to Dallas along with Max Christie. While the Dallas front office aimed to make the most of their newest signing, luck had other plans.

Davis sustained an adductor injury in his first game for the side. While he scored 26 points, had 16 rebounds and seve n assists in his debut game, the injury sidelined him for a month. So far it is the only game he has played for the Mavericks.

While he was out, Kyrie Irving shouldered the entire load and came up with some notable performances to guide the side to several wins. However, making things worse for the Mavericks, Irving recently sustained an ACL injury that will now keep him out for the rest of the season.

This came as a big gut-punch for the Mavericks, whose playoff chances are gradually blowing with each passing game.

Will Anthony Davis play tonight?

Ahead of the game against the Bucks, the Mavericks released their injury report. A total of eight players have found their way on it, including Davis.

There have been rumors that after Irving’s injury Anthony Davis might call his season prematurely to focus on staying healthy. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported, “I think him, his representatives are gonna huddle up. I think they’re gonna have some very hard conversations. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that one game was the last time we’ve seen AD this season.”

While there is no confirmation, if this turns out to be a reality, then it would turn out to be one of the biggest nightmares for the franchise. However, for now, Davis is listed as out on the injury report.

Apart from him and Irving, the Mavericks will be without P.J Washington (right ankle sprain), Jaden Hardy (right ankle sprain), Dante Exum (right foot contusion), Daniel Gafford (right knee sprain) and Dereck Lively II (right ankle stress fracture).

Caleb Martin, who was assigned to the G League side, Texas Legends, has been upgraded to doubtful for the game with right hip strain.
