Meanwhile, Taira continues his meteoric rise through the flyweight rankings. The 25 year old Japanese fighter boasts a stellar 7-1 UFC record. Hiis sole defeat came by split decision to Brandon Royval in their previous encounter. Taira’s recent submission victory over Hyun Sung Park demonstrated his dangerous finishing ability and technical prowess.

The young contender has already broken into the top five rankings despite his relatively short UFC tenure. Taira possesses the kind of well rounded skill set that could carry him to championship gold if he continues developing at his current pace. His grappling credentials are particularly impressive, but he has shown steady improvement in his striking that makes him a legitimate threat in all areas of MMA.

This fight may be for the title eliminator spot. The champion, Alexandre Pantoja reportedly will be taking on Joshua Van next. The winner of this fight will most likely take on whoever emerges the champion!
