Barcelona President Joan Laporta Confirms There Will Be No More Signings This Summer

The Barcelona president highlighted that the team has a strong squad now and Flick wants to trust the youngsters as well.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club does not anticipate making further signings during the current transfer window. The La Liga champions have already bolstered their squad this summer with the arrivals of goalkeeper Joan Garcia and forward Marcus Rashford.

In addition, highly-rated youngster Roony Bardghji has joined the club, although he was initially signed to feature for Barca Atletic. Reports suggest that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has been impressed by the youngster’s energy and potential, hinting that he may be fast-tracked into first-team action.

There Will Be No More New Signings This Summer: Joan Laporta

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Laporta addressed the club’s transfer stance amid lingering Financial Fair Play (FFP) constraints. When asked about the possibility of further signings this window, club president Joan Laporta gave a firm response.

Explaining his statement, the Barcelona president highlighted that the team has a strong squad now and Flick wants to trust the youngsters as well. Laporta said,

“In principle, there will be no more new signings this summer. We have a good squad, and the coach wants to strengthen the first team with players from the reserves, so we don’t expect new deals at the moment.”

Barcelona’s inability to offload several fringe players has made it difficult to create space under La Liga’s salary cap. Pau Víctor’s recent departure could be the start of more exits, but without significant income from player sales, further incoming remain unlikely.

Laporta Heaps Praise on Rashford

Marcus Rashford recently completed his season-long loan move from Manchester United, with an option to buy next summer. The transfer is being hailed as one of the standout deals of the summer, especially given Barca’s financial limitations. President Joan Laporta, who played a key role in making the move happen, spoke glowingly about the England international’s mentality and hunger.

“We are very happy because a player of great quality is coming, at a great age to come to Barca with extraordinary motivation. Personally, I’ve seen how excited he is to come to Barca.”

“One of his virtues is that he is sincere. His dream was to play for Manchester United for the rest of his life. He arrived at the age of seven and was born there with an interesting life. He wanted to be a ‘One club man’. It’s nice for a player to say this with all the sincerity.”
