Read ahead to know how the Austrian GP is expected to play out
Formula 1 is going to start its 11th race of the 2025 season soon. The Austrian Grand Prix weekend is going to take place at the Red Bull Ring from June 27-29. Formula 1 racing is going to be more intense going halfway into the season. Many teams have brought in new upgrades for the race today in Austria.
The Austrian Grand Prix is an important race for the teams. The general consensus is that the teams are going to work on the 2026 regulations from Austrian GP. As teams concentrate their efforts on next season, they will shift their focus from the driver championship. McLaren are their drivers are running away in the 2025 championships. Only Max Verstappen has managed to challenge the Papaya drivers on an equal footing in 2025.
Heading into today’s race, Lando Norris is leading the grid from pole position. Norris has made a dominant comeback after his errors in Canadian GP weekend. Lando Norris was faster than his teammate throughout the weekend. He will have the advantage starting tomorrow’s race. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is also starting on the front row for today’s race. Although, his prospects look quite bleak compared to McLaren. Lando was more than 0.5s faster than him in the final run of Q3.
The only real competition Lando has for today is Oscar Piastri. Until this weekend, the Australian has proved better than his teammate on numerous occasions. Oscar already has four wins in the championship. Meanwhile, Lando Norris only has two wins. Despite these differences, Lando’s pace in the previous sessions favours him in Austria. The weekend is going to be incredibly hard to salvage for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is starting outside top-5. Earlier on, he reported that his Red Bull is getting slower. Red Bull Racing also brought in new updates for Austria. But for Verstappen, his grip in the championship is slipping away slowly.
As a result, the Austrian GP might become a rather boring race out at front. Compared to that, the midfield cars are looking like they will provide more entertainment. The midfielders made judicious upgrades to their car keeping the the competition intact in the midfield.
Poetry in slow motion 😍

Lando Norris is going to win the race in Austria this weekend. His teammate, Oscar Piastri, is going to bring in yet another podium. One of the Ferrari’s will stand on the podium. Although, Charles Leclerc is looking faster than Lewis Hamilton and starts the race with an advantage. The top-5 will completed by George Russell and Max Verstappen. This time around Williams may not be able to bring in points with either of their cars. Instead, it will be the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Racing Bull of Liam Lawson which will control the midfield. Gabriel Bortoleto is set to make his first points finish.
Hardly any cars will end up with a DNF due to a crash. The Red Bull Ring is fast but the drivers were able to navigate the track without any major incidents in the earlier sessions. The most unlikely car to land themselves a point are Haas. Both Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman are starting the race out of top-10. Aston Martin have a good chance to finish within top-10 with Fernando Alonso taking charge. Franco Colapinto might have to wait longer before he can bring in his first points of the 2025 season for Alpine.

nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
