ATP Monte Carlo Masters 2025 Top Seeds: Who Are the Players Gunning for the Trophy?

Sankalp Harikrishnan

The first clay court Masters event kicks off on April 6th.

The ATP Monte Carlo Masters 2025 begins from April 6th, and the final is set to be played on Sunday, April 13th. It is the first clay court Masters-1000 event on the men’s circuit, and promises to be an action-packed week. Stefanos Tsitsipas is the defending champion this year – he has won three of the last four editions of this historic event.

In men’s doubles, the pair of Joran Vliegen and Sander Gille won the 2024 edition of the tournament. Renowned doubles duo of Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan are the most successful in the men’s doubles section in Monte Carlo – they both won the competition six times. Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal is unsurprisingly the record-holder in the singles category – winning Monte Carlo 11 times (including eight consecutive trophies between 2005 to 2012).

There are no prizes for guessing that all of the world’s top players will feature in the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters. Despite World No. 1 Jannik Sinner missing out due to a temporary suspension, it is a power-packed draw. Here are the top seeds:

ATP Monte Carlo Masters 2025 – Men’s Singles Top Seeds

Alexander Zverev (1):

The World No. 2 is struggling with form at the moment. However, he is the current Roland Garros runner-up and knows a thing or two about excelling on the red dirt. He was the 5th seed in the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters, which means there is added pressure on him to perform well this year.

Carlos Alcaraz (2):

The Spanish sensation is the defending French Open champion. He withdrew from the tournament in both 2023 and 2024, which means that he can play some free-flowing tennis without having to worry about defending points.

Taylor Fritz (3):

Clay may not be Taylor Fritz’s best surface, but he has all the qualities to justify his seeding at the French city. However, he is currently dealing with injury issues, which could hamper the American’s progress in the tournament. Fritz withdrew from the UTS event in Nîmes, which could spell trouble.

Novak Djokovic (4):

Still searching for his 100th tour-level title, Novak Djokovic is a two-time champion in Monte Carlo. He reached the final of the Miami Open last week, and gained some much-needed confidence heading into the clay court season. The Serbian will look to avenge last year’s shock loss to Casper Ruud in the semifinal last year.

Casper Ruud (5):

Ruud is the 5th seed and reigning finalist in Monte Carlo. He lost the final to Stefanos Tsitsipas, but is no stranger to excelling on the red dirt. Having had a mediocre start to 2025, Ruud will look to the clay season to change his fortunes.

Jack Draper (6):

The 2025 Indian Wells champion Jack Draper is yet to make his mark on clay courts. Nonetheless, he will look to remain fit and pass the stern tests that await him in the months to come.

Stefanos Tsitsipas (7):

The three-time Monte Carlo Masters champion has won all of his 1000-level trophies at this event. He has beaten Andrey Rublev, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Casper Ruud en route to his three titles. Starting as the 7th seed, he is going to challenge one of the top two in the quarterfinal stage.

Andrey Rublev (8):

Russian star Andrey Rublev is the 2023 champion and 2021 runner-up at the Monte Carlo Masters. Just when his fans thought he had regained form after he won the 2025 Qatar Open title, the 27-year-old lost his opening encounters in Dubai, Indian Wells and Miami.
