Aryna Sabalenka vs. Jasmine Paolini Head to Head Record, Preview and Prediction for WTA Stuttgart Open 2025 Semifinal

Sankalp Harikrishnan

Sabalenka beat Paolini in the Miami SF last month.

A break on Good Friday means that the 2025 WTA Stuttgart Open semifinals will be played on Sunday. The second of these semifinals will feature World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka against World No. 6 Jasmine Paolini in a match of contrasting styles. The winner will face either Jelena Ostapenko or Ekaterina Alexandrova, who play the first semifinal on Centre Court.

It has been an unusual 2025 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix for Aryna Sabalenka. The top seed has played only one match en route to the final four. The Belarusian received a bye in Round-1, before Anastasia Potapova withdrew before their Round of 16 clash. Making full use of her outstanding 14-3 record on clay over the past year, Sabalenka dominated Elise Mertens in the quarterfinals. She is in fine form – winning Miami and finishing runner-up at Indian Wells.

No. 5 seed Jasmine Paolini is yet to reach a singles final in 2025. While the Italian has been excelling on the doubles circuit, this will be the second consecutive event where she will face Sabalenka in the semifinals. The 29-year-old is the reigning Roland Garros finalist, and has a 10-4 clay court record over the past 12 months. She defeated two home favourites in the form of Lys and Niemeier at this year’s event, before dumping fourth seed Coco Gauff out of the competition.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Jasmine Paolini Head to Head Record

Aryna Sabalenka has a convincing 4-2 lead in the head to head record against Jasmine Paolini. They have faced each other six times, including twice over the past year.

The first meeting between the Belarusian powerhouse and her 5’4” counterpart was in 2017, when Paolini emerged victorious in the Ilkley Round of 32. She also pulled off an unimaginable comeback against Sabalenka at Indian Wells in 2022. Apart from this however, things have gone the way of the three-time Grand Slam champion completely.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Jasmine Paolini WTA Stuttgart Open 2025 Prediction

The surface and match fitness for Sunday’s semifinal has stark contrast to the Sabalenka-Paolini duel from last month in Miami. Yet, despite the Olympic women’s doubles gold medalist being a clay court giant, it is hard to look past the World No. 1 in the big games. We think Aryna Sabalenka will inch one step closer to winning the dazzling Porsche on Monday.

Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets.
