The World No. 1 lost in the semifinals at Berlin ahead of Wimbledon.

After missing out on competing at this tournament last year due to a shoulder injury, World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka begins her journey towards a maiden grass court major at Wimbledon 2025. The Belarusian opens her account against qualifier Carson Branstine of Canada. It will be the first meeting between these two players on the professional circuit.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Carson Branstine Match Preview

The head-to-head record between Sabalenka and Branstine currently stands at 0-0. The 24-year-old came through qualifying with three gruesome three set wins. She defeated the likes of Roland Garros breakout star Lois Boisson and former US Open champion Bianca Andreesca along the way. Branstine, who holds a 24-14 record in all competitions this year, hilariously posted “Maybe one day I’ll get a good draw LOL,” on social media after the draw was released.

Reaching back-to-back Grand Slam finals this year, Aryna Sabalenka will be desperate to go one step further at SW19. The 27-year-old top seed has a challenging path to the latter stages of the tournament. She could face either Vondrousova or Kessler in Round-3, Elina Svitolina in Round-4, and Australian Open champ Madison Keys in the QF. But with her 42-8 record and 3 trophies to show for it in 2025, Sabalenka has what it takes to become the queen of England.
