Aryna Sabalenka vs. Amanda Anisimova Head-to-Head, Preview and Prediction for the French Open 2025 Round of 16

Rudra Dubey

Sabalenka and Anisimova set for a blockbuster fourth-round clash in Paris.

One of the most anticipated clashes of the tournament is set: top seed Aryna Sabalenka takes on 16th seed Amanda Anisimova in the fourth round of Roland Garros. Sabalenka has powered through the draw, easing past Kamilla Rakhimova, Jil Teichmann, and Olga Danilovic, all in straight sets. Anisimova’s path was less conventional: her opener ended early after qualifier Nina Stojanovic retired due to injury, but she followed it up with commanding wins over Viktorija Golubic (6–0, 6–2) and 22nd seed Clara Tauson.

Both players are former Roland Garros semifinalists, with Anisimova in 2019 and Sabalenka in 2023. Their rivalry has drawn attention not just for its competitive edge but for the unexpected swings in momentum. While Sabalenka enters with three titles already in 2025, Anisimova has proven her threat with a title run in Qatar. All eyes are on this one, and rightly so.

Aryna Sabalenka vs. Amanda Anisimova Preview

World No. 1 Sabalenka has been on a tear in 2025, reaching finals at the Australian Open, Indian Wells, and Stuttgart, and capturing titles in Brisbane, Miami, and Madrid. She most recently made the Rome quarterfinals, where she fell to Qinwen Zheng in straight sets.

With a stellar 34-6 record, Sabalenka has backed up her top ranking with 126 aces, a 77.4% service games win rate, and impressive return numbers of 48.7% break point conversion and 47.8% return points won.

Anisimova has had flashes of brilliance this season, highlighted by a title run in Qatar where she defeated Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets, her first WTA 1000 win. Though setbacks followed, including withdrawals in Hobart and Singapore, she bounced back with a Charleston semifinal.

However, early exits in Madrid and Rome, followed by a three-set loss to Chloe Paquet in the Paris 125K quarterfinal, hint at inconsistency. Still, with a 16-9 record, 55 aces, 67.4% service games won, 39.9% return games won, and a 43.2% break point conversion rate, Anisimova remains a threat when in rhythm.

Aryna Sabalenka vs. Amanda Anisimova Head-to-Head Record

Amanda Anisimova holds a 5-2 edge over Aryna Sabalenka in their head-to-head, including wins in their first four meetings. The rivalry began in 2019, with Anisimova taking both Grand Slam encounters that year in straight sets, and continued with key clay-court victories in Charleston, Madrid, and, most recently, a dominant showing in Toronto 2024.

Sabalenka’s two wins came in 2022 Rome and the 2024 Australian Open, in three sets and straight sets, respectively. While Anisimova has historically matched up well, Sabalenka’s current form and rise to World No. 1 suggest the dynamic may be shifting

Anisimova has the tools to trouble top players and has the lead in H2H, but Sabalenka’s consistency, power, and superior form in 2025 give her the edge. If she maintains control on serve, the world No. 1 should advance.

I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
