Argentina’s World Cup Qualifiers Games: Full Fixture List, Squad Updates & Key Matches.

The international break approaches us again as the Argentina national football team prepare to play two crucial World Cup qualifying matches in June. With a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 already sealed, the Albiceleste now only aim to maintain their top position in the CONMEBOL standings.

Their matches in June also mark the return of Lionel Messi to the national squad after a brief hiatus. He was recovering from an injury that sidelined him in previous qualifiers. The squad for this break looks similar to their usual ones barring a few players with injuries.

Argentina are currently leading the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying table with 31 points from 14 matches. They’ve secured 10 wins, one draw, and three losses, with a goal difference of +18. This performance helped them guarantee their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the first South American country.

Head coach Lionel Scaloni has announced a 27-player squad for the June qualifiers. The focus of it has been the return of Lionel Messi, who missed previous matches due to injury.  Key players like Emiliano Martínez, Rodrigo De Paul, Julian Alvarez, and Lautaro Martínez has also been called up again for this fixture.

However, the squad will miss Alexis Mac Allister, Alejandro Garnacho, Valentín Castellanos, and Nicolas Dominguez due to injuries. On a brighter note, young talents such as 17-year-old Franco Mastantuono have also been called up for the matches in June. With mostly experienced players in the squad, it shows that Scaloni is now focusing on integrating new prospects.

My favorite part of the job is everything—when you’re doing what you love, even a late-night deadline feels like extra time in a thrilling cup final. Lastly, Lionel Messi is the GOAT.
