The rise of Antoine Semenyo at Bournemouth has pushed him firmly into the centre transfer discussions now. Several Premier League heavyweights are monitoring the situation and they could move quickly once his short-term release clause becomes active.
The 25-year-old’s capabilities has turned him into one of the most coveted forwards in England this season. A £65 million clause in Semenyo’s contract is set to become available for a limited January window. It is expected to accelerate interest from Manchester City and Manchester United.
Chelsea and Liverpool have also been tracking developments at different stages. However, reportedly, the Reds have pulled out of the race. Bournemouth are aware of the growing pressure and appear prepared for serious conversations. Even though they would prefer to keep one of their most decisive players.

Man City’s interest is driven by both opportunity and necessity. Injuries and international absences have reduced Pep Guardiola’s attacking options. So, Semenyo’s Premier League readiness will come as a major advantage. His ability to operate on either flank or through the middle also aligns with City’s need for adaptable forwards rather than specialist wingers.
Reportedly, talks have already taken place between Man City officials and Semenyo’s representatives. Their director of football Hugo Viana is leading discussions. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Semenyo has indicated a preference to join Man City in order to compete for major honours.

Fabrizio Romano has also reported that they are actively working to finalise a deal. The potential arrival could have consequences internally. Romano stated that Oscar Bobb may ‘seriously consider’ leaving if Semenyo signs, with the Norwegian as he would be facing increased competition alongside Savinho and Jeremy Doku.
Man United remain part of the conversation. Even though momentum appears to be shifting elsewhere. Financially, the club is better placed compared to previous windows. And Semenyo’s versatility is seen as a strong match for Ruben Amorim’s tactical structure.

His capacity to function as a wing-back or advanced attacking option makes him attractive. Especially in a system that demands positional intelligence and physical output. There is also a belief at Old Trafford that Semenyo is open to the move, despite uncertainty around Champions League qualification.
The pull of a rebuild and a guaranteed central role could still weigh heavily in Man United’s favour if negotiations with Man City stall. Semenyo has delivered goals and assists consistently this season and has become integral to Andoni Iraola’s system. Yet with a time-limited clause and elite clubs circling, control may soon shift away from the south coast.
