Anthony Davis has been sidelined with a left adductor strain since Feb. 8
Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd addressed the injury concerns surrounding the team and discussed the possible return date of their big man, Anthony Davis. The Mavericks were optimistic when they acquired Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Luka Doncic.
However, all their hopes were crushed when Davis was sidelined with an adductor injury right after his debut game. What made things worse for the Mavericks is that Davis wasn’t the only name on their injury list.
Sidelined for more than a month, he was recently assigned to the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ G-League affiliate, and has been practicing with them for the second consecutive week. He was joined by centers Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford, indicating that the trio is set to return from their extended injury layoffs.
Now, according to The Stein Line, the former Lakers star is in strong contention to make his return during the Mavericks’ upcoming four-game road trip through the East. The 11th-seeded western side will play back-to-back games against the Nets and Knicks, respectively. They will then play Orlando on Thursday before concluding the trip in Chicago on Saturday.
According to league sources, while there is no return date set for Davis, he is nearing his clearance date. He participated in five-on-five play twice this week with the franchise’s G-league affiliate.
When Kidd was asked about a return date for Davis, he refused to commit to a set date but said that the team is aiming for his return during the regular season.
