All NFL Teams Hold Their 1st Round Pick One Week Ahead of 2025 NFL Draft – Who Will Blink First?

Eric D

One week out from the 2025 NFL draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin, all 32 teams still hold their first-round picks for the 2025 NFL draft. This is an extremely rare milestone, as it’s the first time in modern era that every team entered the league year with their first-round selection intact, per NFL research, and that status has still remained unchanged so far.

If no first-round picks are traded before April 24, it will be the first time since 2014 without any first-round trades between the league’s start year and the draft’s opening night. The absence of trades so far has sparked discussion, with this year’s draft class seen as solid but still missing out on standout stars, reducing the urge for teams to trade up.

Which Teams Could Try To Trade Up First?

New York Giants

The Giants need a franchise quarterback, and their private workout with Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders signals strong interest. GM Joe Schoen could package their 34th pick or a 2026 second-rounder to move back into the top 10. New York could also target other non-QBs such as Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter from the 2025 draft. However, their need for a QB is one of the top priorities for them, and even though they signed veteran QBs such as Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, they do need a QB who can play for them over the next decade or so.

Cleveland Browns

Similar to the New York Giants, the Browns also do not have a franchise quarterback who they can rely upon. So the Browns could try to draft Shedeur Sanders, Jaxon Dart, or Jalen Milroe, provided that these quarterbacks start slipping down the draft. The Browns currently have three quarterbacks in place and all three of them have been inconsistent with their production.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots hold the 4th overall pick and an early second-rounder. They have basically two critical needs at left tackle and wide receiver for the 2025 NFL draft. They could target one of their needs at No.4 and then trade up from the second round to secure a top player at the other position. This strategy could allow the Patriots to address both premium positions with high-caliber talent.

Houston Texans

The Texans need a offensive line, especially since Tank Dell is still suffering from a gruesome knee injury. Trading up for a O-Line in the NFL draft makes a lot of sense for the Texans.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints hold the the 9th overall pick in the NFL draft , along with 40th pick in round 2 of the 2025 draft. While they are good where they are, the Saints have a history of trading up, even when they do not need to. And that is the reason why we believe the Saints could be one of the teams who will try to trade up in the NFL draft.
