Aljamain Sterling Responds To Movsar Evloev’s Bid For A Title Shot; Calls In Question His Victory Over Him

Some fighters talk a big game and back it up, while others write checks their fists can’t cash. Movsar Evloev seems to fall into that first category. The undefeated featherweight recently made some bold claims about his path to a title shot, and Aljamain Sterling responded to Movsar Evloev’s bid for a title shot with some serious pushback. When fighters start throwing around words like “easy” to describe their victories, things tend to get personal fast.

Sterling knows a thing or two about championship pressure and what it takes to reach the top of the division. The former UFC bantamweight king moved up to featherweight after losing his title, looking to prove he belongs among the elite at 145 pounds. He has faced adversity before and bounced back stronger. The back-and-forth between these two fighters shows how heated things can get when rankings and title shots are on the line.

Movsar Evloev’s Bold Claims Don’t Sit Well With Aljamain Sterling

Movsar Evloev decided to make some waves recently by running down his recent victories and demanding a title shot. He claimed he beat Diego Lopes, Arnold Allen, and Aljamain Sterling “very easy” and suggested nobody else deserves a shot at the belt more than him. But, to his credit, he is ready to face any of them again.

Aljamain Sterling (25-5) wasn’t having any of that revisionist history. He fired back quickly, calling Evloev’s “easy” talk crazy and setting the record straight about their fight at UFC 310. Sterling made it clear that he doesn’t believe Evloev actually beat him. His response suggests he thinks the judges got it wrong that night, and he’s not afraid to say it out loud.

The timing of this exchange is interesting because both fighters are at different points in their careers right now. Sterling has stayed active since their fight, picking up a solid win over Brian Ortega recently. Meanwhile, Evloev hasn’t stepped foot in the octagon since beating Sterling, which makes his title shot demands seem a bit premature.

Champions and contenders need to stay in the public eye and keep winning fights to maintain their position in the rankings. Evloev’s decision victory over Sterling was solid, but it wasn’t the kind of dominant performance that usually launches someone straight into title contention. But, he is undefeated and with all these contenders vying for the title shot, a title eliminator fight might be in the works!
