Alexander Volkanovski’s journey in the UFC has been nothing short of remarkable. From his days as a 214-pound rugby player to becoming one of the most dominant featherweight champions, his story embodies the fighting spirit. Last February’s knockout loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 298 might have taken his belt, but it certainly hasn’t dampened his warrior spirit. Now, after a year of reflection and recovery, Volkanovski is dropping hints about his return to the octagon.

The rumor mill is spinning fast with his upcoming fight news. The former champ recently revealed he has been in fight camp for sometime, and if the whispers are true, we might see him headline UFC 314 in Miami.

If the UFC 314 rumors are true, we are in for a treat. Miami in April means two things: heat and fireworks. Alexander Volkanovski vs. Ilia Topuria 2 would be a perfect headline act. The first fight ended dramatically with Volk getting knocked out in the second round, but let’s not forget how Volk handled Max Holloway in their trilogy.

Another possible fight would be against the #4 ranked Movsar Evloev. If the Topuria fight isn’t in the works or if the UFC has other plans for the champion (maybe they are figuring out a fight with lightweight champion Islam Makhachev), this would make perfect sense. Volkanovski will return after more than a year, which was well needed after two consecutive KO’s.

Remember when Volkanovski shocked the world by stepping up on short notice to face Islam Makhachev? That is the kind of fighter he is, always ready, always game. The Topuria loss was his first at featherweight, ending his fight win streak that dated back to 2016 in the UFC. Now, at 36, he is looking to prove that you can’t keep a great man down for long.
