Alex Pereira Vows to Reclaim UFC Light Heavyweight Title at UFC 320

Eric Divakaran

Alex Pereira is gearing up for a high-stakes rematch against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320, aiming to recapture the light heavyweight title he lost earlier this year. The Brazilian striker is determined to prove that he can outshine the dominant champion.

Despite being a underdog going into the fight, Pereira’s confidence is unwavering, promising a thrilling performance to cement his legacy. A victory would mean that Pereira gets back to the top, where he so desperately wants to be again. But a loss, could be the last of Pereira we may see for some time.

Pereira’s Plan to Upset Ankalaev

Pereira, who suffered a decisive unanimous decision loss to Ankalaev in their first encounter, is fueled by the desire to reclaim his belt. “What motivates me is getting my belt back,” he said on UFC 320 Countdown. “Before out first fight, he said he was going to do all these things and didn’t do anything. Ankalaev, where did he hurt me? Where did he do damage? I believe I can be better than him, beat him, shut down his game, and put on a show.” Via UFC Countdown Pereira insists he can keep the fight standing, leveraging his striking to land damaging shots and secure the win.

With a 12-3 record, Pereira is no stranger to big moments, having defended his title three times with knockouts over Khalil Rountree, Jiri Prochazka, and Jamahal Hill before his loss to Ankalaev. “I’ve done a lot in the UFC, but I still have a lot to do,” he added. “I’m locked in, and this will be a different fight. I’m getting my belt back.”

Ankalaev was a Significant Challenge for Pereira

Ankalaev looked unbeatable in his last outing against Pereira, and will not be an easy opponent for Poatan by any means. His grappling-heavy approach overwhelmed Pereira in the first bout, making this rematch a tall order.

A victory for Pereira would be a career-defining upset, further solidifying his legacy as one of the UFC’s elite. The stage is set for a thrilling showdown at UFC 320, where Pereira aims to defy the odds and reclaim the light heavyweight belt.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
