‘Let’s Make It Happen At 205′ – Alex Pereira Responds To Dricus Du Plessis’ Call Out

Alex Pereira is sitting at the top of UFC’s lightweight division and lately, it seems like he wants to fight everyone in the UFC. He’s challenged the current middleweight champion Du Plessis for a fight this time.

In UFC 312, we saw Dricus Du Plessis defend his title for the second time, against Sean Strickland. Du Plessis dominated the fight and won via unanimous decision. Du Plessis is the current middleweight champion of the UFC and after his fight against Strickland, he might have felt a little too confident as he talked a little smack. This did not sit right with Poatan.

Du Plessis is currently dominating his division and has a win-loss record of 23-2, so far in his career. He made his UFC debut in 2020 and ever since then, Du Plessis has not lost a single fight in his UFC career. Dricus has won all nine of his fights so far and remains undefeated. He’s taken down the likes of Israel Adesanya, Sean Strickland (2x), Robert Whittaker, to name a few. He’s the first South African man to win a UFC championship.

Meanwhile, Pereira has had a dominant run himself. He’s the current the light heavyweight champion of the UFC and is a former Middleweight champion as well. Poatan is only the 9th fighter in UFC history to win championship in two different weight categories. Despite his greatness, he does not seem satisfied with what he has. We know he wants to fight Jon Jones in the heavyweight division. He has intentions of fighting Islam Makhachev, and now he wants to face Du Plessis as well. It seems like whoever the champ is, Poatan wants to take them all down.

So why does Pereira suddenly want to fight Du Plessis? Let’s find out.

Pereira wants to fight Dricus Du Plessis next?

After Du Plessis’ win against Strickland in UFC 312, Du Plessis crossed paths backstage with Poatan and was reportedly heard asking if there was anyone else left. This did not sit right with Pereira and he replied saying “I’m here and let’s make it happen at 205.” Du Plessis did not backtrack either and he responded with “Deal!”

Will the fight happen between Pereira and Du Plessis?

Nothing can be said as of now. Pereira wants to fight multiple champs across all divisions. Meanwhile, Dricus also called out Khamzat Chimaev after his fight against Strickland. Before Du Plessis fights Poatan, he will most likely take on Chimaev. Khamzat is undefeated so far and it is only right to give him a title shot next, as he’s also 2nd in rankings. He and has been waiting for a shot at the title for a long time.

If the fight happens between Pereira and Du Plessis, it will surely be one of the biggest fights in UFC’s history. The way fighters switch weight categories, like it’s nothing, we can expect this super fight to happen very soon. Perhaps next year? We’ll see.
