Will Bronny James participate in the G League Winter Showcase in Orlando?

Los Angeles Lakers’ rookie Bronny James will take the court next week at the G League Winter Showcase in Orlando, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Dave McMenamin. The event, which attracts scouts from all 30 NBA teams, will run from 19-22 Dec.

While his time in the NBA has been limited, Bronny has been making waves in the G League with the South Bay Lakers. In his last three games, the 20-year-old is averaging 20.7 points on 43.1% shooting, along with 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists. His best came in South Bay Lakers’ last game, where he scored a career high 30 points in team’s loss to Valley Suns.

He’s got to be okay with failing: Lakers coach JJ Redick on Bronny James

Head coach JJ Redick recently spoke about Bronny’s development and noted that young rookie has “reservation” to failure and it is due to the fact that he has been in the spotlight since such a young age.

“He’s very coachable,” Redick said.

“But I think he has to get to a point where it’s okay to fail. I think he has a real reservation to failure. And I think a lot of that is because he’s had a camera on him since he was 8 years old. I can’t imagine Knox and Kai having cameras at their rec league games. He’s had attention on him and I’m cognizant of that. And I think once he develops that, he’s gonna take off”, Redick said while talking to media.

The G League Winter Showcase semifinals are on Friday, and the championship game will take place on Sunday, with a $100,000 grand prize on the line.

For Bronny and the South Bay Lakers, their first game in Orlando is Thursday against the Greensboro Swarm.
