CM Punk and Gunther go against each other at Main Event of SummerSlam.

Gunther and CM Punk are two WWE superstars who don’t need an introduction. A legend and a would-be legend would face each other at SummerSlam to decide the WWE Heavyweight Champion. CM Punk is an all-time WWE GOAT and has been chasing the WWE Championship ever since his return to WWE, but has yet to get his hands on the Championship.

Gunther, on the other has been a dominant superstar and has held a Championship 80% of the time he has been on WWE. He lost his WWE Heavyweight Championship to Jey Uso at WrestleMania, but he was quick to get his title back in less than two months. He recently defeated Goldberg at SNME, establishing his authority in WWE further.

CM has had a journey to remember in WWE ever since his return. He returned to WWE, but his rivalry with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins cost him badly at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber. His friend Paul Heyman betraying him at WrestleMania was the highlight of the mega event. Seth Rollins made sure CM Punk lost every title match till now, including the one against John Cena for the WWE Undisputed title at Night of Champions.

Seth Rollins being out of WWE due to injury worked as a blessing for CM Punk, who won the gauntlet match, pinning Bron Breakker. Bronson Reed tried to interrupt the match, but Jey Uso neutralized the threat, helping CM Punk to gain victory over Bron Breakker. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed started a two-on-one assault on already injured CM Punk and Jey Uso, but the return of Roman Reigns halted their malice plan.

Roman Reigns took down both Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker to save Jey Uso and CM Punk. Gunther and CM Punk have had two verbal altercations ever since their match was announced, and while Gunther was able to shut CM Punk down for the first time, CM Punk showed why he is the Best in the World the second time.

CM Punk speculated to win the WWE Heavyweight Championship, but the happiness would be short-lived as Seth Rollins would cash in his MITB contract on him to become the New Heavyweight Champion, extending his rivalry with CM Punk further

The other speculated result is that Seth Rollins’ attempt at cashing in would fail due to the interruption from Roman Reigns. CM Punk to remain the WWE Heavyweight Champion.
